About the Director
Amanda Van Meter Burch, Founder/Director
Hello, Artists! I'm sincerely grateful that you're here & hope you have arrived at our site out of a deep appreciation for the arts, something we hopefully have in common. If you haven't already connected with us, reach out. Our community is always growing & if you would like to find out more about who we are & how you can get involved contact us.
Amanda is a dance teacher & choreographer in the Central Florida area holding a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a minor in Religion from the University of Florida. She began dancing at a young age studying ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, West African, ballroom, liturgical, salsa, & several other cultural genres. Studying under artists like DaVonne Miller allowed her the opportunity to step into many teaching & choreography positions, & provided a foundation for an ongoing career. Her formal training comes from DaVonne’s School of Ballet, Hillsborough Community College, University of South Florida, University of Florida, & many workshops, intensives, & master classes attended regularly including Lines Ballet Discovery Project, American Ballet Theatre, Florida Dance Education Organization, & Brandon Ballet. She has traveled nationally & internationally teaching at studios, conferences, & workshops.
Her heart is to create new & exciting pieces that connect with the viewer & are pleasing to God, the Creator. Her systematic & analytical mind ignited a passion for choreography early on in her career & composition continues to be an emphasized area of focus.
She founded Central Florida Choreographers Collaboration (CFCC) in 2019 out of a personal desire to see more resources for dance makers & a passion for collaborating with all kinds of artists from all walks of life. Since CFCC's inception, she has directed the organization into the world of dance films, in addition to providing free to low cost classes & workshops to the dance community. CFCC Films, a subdivision of CFCC has produced several dance films since the fall of 2020. In 2022 CFCC launched its first film festival open to global dance filmmakers.
A Letter From the Director
Greetings my fellow Artists,
I am so happy that you have shown an interest in our organization and I hope that you will make contact with us at an upcoming meet up, class, or event. I would love to meet you in person and chat with you about your personal focus in the arts. The scope of the art world continues to evolve as the landscape of our society continues to change. Now more than ever I believe it is necessary to create the things that the world is lacking. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self control.” I firmly believe that God is calling artists to create and operate in these fruits.
I feel it is necessary to share this with you because I am a Christian and while this organization is open to work with any and all people groups, you should be aware that it is governed by Christian principals based on a biblical worldview. Biblical meaning I believe the Bible to be the perfect Word of God, infallible, inerrant, and not subject to man’s interpretation. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and therefore I have a set of values that will determine how I lead and make decisions for this organization. So what does this mean for CFCC?
We are a neutral organization meaning anyone is welcome to participate with us regardless of political, religious, ideological, and/or personal beliefs. ANYONE! Our organization strives to remain neutral and a family friendly environment. Many arts organizations have taken it upon themselves to become activists for social change and while I applaud many of their efforts and passions, we are not one of those organizations. Our activism will come in the form of good character and loving people. That being said, I want everyone, no matter his or her beliefs, to feel welcome and open to create with us. If a collaborator becomes combative, a source of strife, drama, or hatred, a course of action will be determined by leadership.
It is my goal to create in a peaceful environment that will nurture all involved so please know that every decision made is done so to accomplish just that. We all love our craft and for most, if not all of us, it has been a source of encouragement, safety, and edification. I hope that this community can also be a place to foster relationships that uplift you and help you along in your personal journey. If you would like prayer or even just to have a conversation please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I hope to see you very soon.
